Janie Maximick – Author!!
Janie traveled in her
27 foot motorhome from British Columbia, Canada to Arizona a few years
ago. Call
it a combination of midlife crisis and a gypsy Bohemian/Irish descent---in
the end it doesn’t matter---the road was calling. She drove
alone with her 10 lb. Yorkie who proved a trooper
as a navigator and guard dog on their travels. She
knows RVing inside and out from learning the 
hard
way. She did everything wrong at least twice, had many misadventures,
and don’t even mention the word “windstorm” to her! Janie
has pondered the possibility that she might have been Calamity Jane in
another lifetime!
Growing up on a small island in between Victoria and Vancouver, BC in the 1960’s gave Janie a good start on her imagination. Back then her family lived 6 miles out of town and owned 3 acres of beach front. It was an amazing childhood of swimming, fishing, boating, building forts, playing pirates and cowboys, and hiking the hills with her dog.
There was only one channel available on their black and white TV, and reading became a pastime. Summertime would find her out under the stars on their porch in a sleeping bag, reading with a flashlight until it dimmed and even a few good whacks couldn’t revive the battery.
Ah---but then there were the years after the island---some good---and some---well---.
It was when she reached 50 that she realized that what people really need in life was a good laugh. And that’s why Janie’s style of writing is uplifting, engaging, and has unpredictable laugh-out-loud humor throughout her story.
She bought a secondhand laptop after her first trip to Arizona and just started typing. Her on-going story has become a passion and she is totally committed to her books of Paradise. She’s had so much fun writing about her series of the fictitious RV Park in Arizona and her quirky characters---and it shows!
Janie
Maximick returned from a fantastic trip in the early part of 2008 down
the west coast to Arizona and New Mexico in her loaded-up-with-books
1991 Honda. She
sold books, stumbled into new adventures, gathered a boxful of brochures
and now has enough ideas to keep Paradise in and out of wacky predicaments
for many years to come.
So---if you’re looking for a break from your usual day---it’s right here in Paradise. It doesn’t matter if you’ve ever RV’d or even camped. She has readers from teens to seniors and some of them have never set their toes in a travel trailer!
